Spring Cleaning for People Who Hate Cleaning
I hate cleaning. There, I said it. But I love the feeling of a refreshed space. The trick is to make spring cleaning about editing and refreshing, not scrubbing baseboards.
The 15-Minute Rule
Everything in spring cleaning should take 15 minutes or less. If a task takes longer, break it into chunks. Clean your windows? 15 minutes per room. Refresh your closet? 15 minutes per category. The goal is momentum, not marathon cleaning.
Start with the Windows
The single biggest impact you can make in spring is letting more light in. Clean your windows inside and out. Remove heavy curtains and replace with sheer panels. The difference in how your home feels will be immediate.
The One-Bag Method
For decluttering, use the one-bag method: grab a garbage bag and walk through your home. Anything that is trash goes in. Anything to donate goes in a separate box. Set a timer for 20 minutes. Do not overthink it.
Bottom line: Spring cleaning does not have to be a weekend project. Do it in small bursts and your home will feel brand new by the time spring is over.
